GCT – Gdynia Container Terminal

In 2005, Hutchison Ports became the owner of post-shipyard land located in the Port of Gdynia at Bulgarskie Quay. A series of investments began, the value of which to date has exceeded EUR 100 million. Thanks to them, the area was transformed into a modern container terminal, GCT became one of the terminals forming a worldwide network of Hutchison Ports. The terminal handles short sea and ocean-going vessels. Responding to market needs, the terminal is constantly developing: handling capacity is being increased, efficiency and quality of services offered are being improved. The terminal’s operations are carried out with respect for the environment, so as to reduce its impact on the surroundings to a minimum.

SBTI APPROVES HUTCHISON PORTS NEAR-TERM AND NET-ZERO TARGET

Hutchison Ports has recently obtained the approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for our submitted groupwise greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and 2050 net-zero target. SBTi confirmed the conformity of our targets with their net-zero criteria. Our targets are in line with the trajectory to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

To achieve the GHG emissions reduction targets, Hutchison Ports has developed a net-zero strategic roadmap which takes into account the past emissions pattern, future plan on electrification of fleet, adoption of renewable energy and alternative fuel.
